Swift Parrots are endemic to south-eastern Australia and only breed in Tasmania. They mainly feed on the nectar of flowering eucalypts, grass seeds, fruit, nectar and insects.
The Swift Parrot is listed federally as endangered, and as endangered in New South Wales, Tasmania and Victoria.
