Red-capped Plover (female)
The Red-capped Plover (Charadrius ruficapillus), also known as the Red-capped Dotterel, is a small wader.
The Red-capped Plover is found on sandy beaches, coastal lagoons, estuaries and inland saline wetlands where it feeds mainly on small invertebrates, such as molluscs, crustaceans and worms.
In Tasmania, it is found along the coasts and also on inland lagoons at high altitudes in the Central Plateau.
