Fan-tailed Cuckoos (Cacomantis flabelliformis) are found in eastern, south-western and south-eastern Australia, including Tasmania. Birds in Tasmania migrate northwards for winter.
The Fan-tailed Cuckoo is a slender cuckoo easily identified by a yellow eye ring, dark slate-grey back and wings, and boldly barred black and white under-tail. It feeds on a range of insects and their larvae, including caterpillars.
